Now you are able two script within the ASE (Android Scripting Environment) small apps and use some of the Android api´s.
I tried it myself and wrote a “Hallo World” app in less than a minute.
It is very easy and everyone who likes python should give it a try.
At the moment, lua and BeanShell besides python is supported by the app. If you want to give it a try, find a downloadable apk file at http://code.google.com/p/android-scripting/.
There is no download on the market for the moment, so take a look at the webpage.

Jetzt ist es erstmals gelungen, Python auf Android zum laufen zu bekommen.

Hier ein Auszug des Originaltextes von http://www.damonkohler.com:
“Here’s an early Christmas present for all those Python fanatics (self included) out there! With a lot of help from my friends (thanks Manuel and Thomas!) I managed to install Python 2.4.5 on my G1. It’s still rough around the edges, but I think it’s a good start. Klaus Reimer has a nice overview of how to cross-compile Python….”
