More “Apples” will be back soon

At the moment, i only have a iMac 27″ i7 as the only hardware from apple (ok, i also use a BT Keyboard and Mouse as well as a 1TB TimeCapsule) for “visual” use. After i have sold my last 3G iPhone at the beginning of the year and switching over to a Nexus One, i will get an iPad as well as the new iPhone as soon as both things are available in Germany.

Therefore, i wanted to start again coding for Mac OSX and the iPhone OS. I am not very familiar with C in any shape, but very used to python and also to Java. In order to get a good start (allready owning a guide for iPhone developement) i bought me a book to learn Cocoa from the beginning to write apps for Mac OSX as well as the iPhone OS in the future.

Let´s see, what apps will come out in the future

Update: Dropbox for Android: The official App

Last week, Dropbox invited 500 peoople to try out the official DropBox app for android.

For those, who don´t know what dropbox is: DropBox is a cloud space, which syncs a folder, called dropbox on your mac or pc with the cloud. The big feature, via the cloud you can sync as many macs or pc with one cloud. So you are able to stay in sync with for example workspace files for developement.

At the moment, there are some DropBox apps available on the market, but they don´t seem to be as feature rich as the official one.

For me, i wasn´t able to be one of the first 500 people to link their android phones to their account.

The release to all android users is said to be some time away.

Some pictures from the official dropbox blog:

If you want to try out DropBox, please use my referral link:

If you use my link to sign up with dropbox, you and i will get an additional space of 250MB.

Update 05.05.2010:

Today, DropBox released their app to everyone through the Market. They didn´t wait “some month” like posted earlier ond their official blog.

I was able to play around with DropBox on my Nexus One. For now, i can say, everything looks nice and quite familiar.

There is only one thing i don´t know how to solve. How can i upload text to my DropBox on my NexusOne. Let´s see, if i find a solution for that.

My Developer Phone arrived *YES*

Last week, my long awaited Nexus one (ok, i allready have a Nexus One) arrived.

After opening the big box and looking inside, i found a retail Nexus One Box (the left one on the picture, compared to my own one).

IMAG0011.jpgInside the box, everything themes to be the same like the retail version. All the small manuals are inside, along a power source, usb cable and headphones.

So after a long wait, german developers also got their phones.

Let´s see, what i will do with this one. My “old” Nexus One is allready rooted and some nice additional features are running.

At last, i can only say thank you to all people who downloaded my app, and a big thank you to Google for this nice gift for our work.

My Developer Phone still didn´t arrive

Like you could read some time ago, i was one of the Android Developers who where choosen to get a free Nexus One from google because of writing an app with more than 5000 downloads and a rating equal or better than 3.5 stars.

The first phones than arrived within the USA but until now, i didn´t receive my free phone. So i started to ask some other german developers, if they had gotten their phones allready, but they either didn´t receive their phones.

So i started to ask google, what was going on.

Here you can find their original answer

XXXXX,
We have verified that there is no problem with any shipment. We apologize for the delays in the shipments; we had some issues which have been resolved. You should be receiving your phone within the next 2 weeks.
We apologize again for the delays and thank you for your ongoing patience.
Thanks,
XXXXX
So now we know, that their had been some issues (not knowing exactly what was the problem). But the good thing is, i will still receive my phone.
I will update you as soon as my phone arrives and maybe, there is something special about this developer phone

20.000 Downloads

Yesterday, my first App “InfoDroid” for the Android Market reached more than 20.000 downloads.

So i wanted say thank you to everyone who downloaded my app.

I have still some ideas in mind to make this app better and integrate more features.

Let´s see how long it will take for my theme to reach this goal.

Update: First “Developer” Phones arrive

Like you could read, that the first developers phones from the android device seeding programm allready arrived in the USA, there is no news update within germany.

We are still waiting for our devices, like i got to know also from another german developer.

In the meantime, let´s update our apps and give the users more feautures.

As soon as there is any news update, you will read it.

First “Developer” Phones arrive

Hi.

Like i could read in the news of twitter and on xda, the first free handsets from the Android Market Device Seeding Program are arriving. Until now, i only read that the developers get the more loved Nexus One from google.

Bad words can be heard, that they deliver more N1´s because googles first phone sold by themselves only via online store does have not so good sell statistics.

But i only can say, that i love my N1 very much. For me, it would be great to get the Droid, but only within the USA, google is sending a Droid or a N1 to the developers. Outside the USA, you will allways get the N1.

But i don´t cry about only getting the N1 (which hasen´t been devlivered until now). This is a great move from google and it makes me feel good in a way. I will still go on with developing new apps and improve my actual ones (an update of InfoDroid is around the corner).

Keep on coding

My free Nexus One is going to ship

On Wednesday, Android Developers with an app in the market which has 5000 downloads and a rating of a minimum of 3.5 Stars out of five have been sent an email to register for a free Nexus One (or Droid within only within the US).

Bot of my apps fullfilled the requirement and so i´ve choosen the better one: InfoDroid.

Today i got my confirmation mail (see original mail at the bottom of the post), that i will get my free Nexus One and that i will receive my device in 2 – 4 weeks.

This is a really great gift from Google, but after all, a little bit funny for me especially since not living in one of the four countries, where google is shipping their Nexus One at the moment, but allready having one.

But i must say, that this is a rally great move from google to give away free phones for top devs. This provides every developer to go on with new apps on the newest system builds (2.0.1 for the Droid and 2.1 for the Nexus One).

So we will see a lot of new apps in the coming month which will all focus on the newer Versions.

For myself, i´m still updating my application InfoDroid like you my allready read on an eralier post.

So now, i only can say “thank you” to all the people who downloaded my app and made this possible.

Nexus One Customisation

HI.

Since i got my nexus one, i couldn´n withstand to root and customise it again.

The rooting process is very easy on the Nexus One and can be done by really everyone.

For the moment, i go again like on my G1 with the Cyanogen Builds. I prefere them, because they run really stable, get frequently updates and have some nice add ons against the stock rom.

I´ve also did some graphical things to my Nexus One. But take a look yourself.

If you want some info about rooting or customization, drop me a mail or post a comment.

App Update Info: InfoDroid

Hi.

I only wanted to let you all know, that since i got my nexus one, i am working on an update to my first app “Infodroid”.

Like you can see in the screenshot, there will be two more tabs.

Especially the last tab will be very interesting.
