Just a small test. Posting directly from my G1.

Since i couldn´t resist to use Hero as an everyday ROM i tried a lot of tweaks and optimizations in order to get it running as smooth as the ROMs from Cyanogen. And now i have finally got to the point for myself where i can say, i am running at around 95% of the same speed. So for me, it is now usable as an everyday phone.
Therefore i used JacHero´s Rom 2.3.3 together with apps2sd, swapper and TA Utilities.
But i got the most out of it with replacing the Rosie.apk which is normally around 4,5MB with a highly stipped down version which is only 336KB big (JacHero´s one is allready stripped down to around 1,6MB).
If anyone needs help installing Hero on his or her G1, i am willing to post a How-To.

Today, i tried a really stable Hero release on my G1.
At first, it looks really great, but even with overclocked cpu to 528MHz and external apps, it runs to slow (in my opinion) in order to use it as a everyday rom.
So now i will go back to Cyanogen. But you have to know, if you want to go back, you have to format your SD card again completely. The FAT32 partition for the standart stuff and the ext2/3 partition for Apps2SD.

Today i managed it to get my apps on the sd card of my android device and it is still working. I tried it a lot of times with terminal hacking, lucidrem scipts but without any sucess.
Today i put the ROM from CyanogenMod on my device. His rom supports ext3 on the SD card and after installing is recovery image it is very easy inside the recovery terminal to get the apps on the sd.
The ROM itself recognizes the ext3 on the sd card as “internal memory” and now i have enough space to install all the great apps.
Originally, i had 74Mb to install apps, no i have 980Mb.
Let´s see, how it works during the next weeks.

Yes, say did it. Ok, you can´t write real “apps” within python, but you can get quite next to it.
Now you are able two script within the ASE (Android Scripting Environment) small apps and use some of the Android api´s.
I tried it myself and wrote a “Hallo World” app in less than a minute.
It is very easy and everyone who likes python should give it a try.
At the moment, lua and BeanShell besides python is supported by the app. If you want to give it a try, find a downloadable apk file at http://code.google.com/p/android-scripting/.
There is no download on the market for the moment, so take a look at the webpage.

Hi.
At the moment, you do not hear a lot from me. But i am still alive but have a lot of things to do besides programming and theming. For the moment, i went back to the magic theme for the G1. This i like a lot.
Additionally, i use a small programm, which will put some chaches to the sd card. This gave me back around 5Mb. This just works fine for me (apps2sd did not work properly for me). If anyone is interested in this programm, i will post a link.

Seit heute gibt es die neue alternative Firmware JFv 1.51.
Dabei ist sie als ADP, UK oder US Version erhältlich.
Nachdem ich das Radio-Update und dann die neue Firmware geflasht hatte, musste ich leider einen wipe machen, da mein Home beim laden immer abgeschmiert ist.
Jetzt läuft aber alles reibunglos.

Nachdem ich mein deutsches G1 etwas vorschnell (man ist ja leider zu neugierig) auf FW 1.5 gebracht habe wollte es erst nicht so recht mit dem rooten klappen.
Doch heute nach ca. 3 Stunden, hab ich ein G1 mit FW 1.5 gerooted. Aktuell läuft jetzt JF 1.5 ADP drauf und ich bin absolut glücklich. Jetzt kann ich endlich ein paar mehr Apps installieren ohne immer gleiche auf den internen Speicher schauen zu müssen. Denn die werden morgen auch noch auf SD ausgelagert. Somit bin ich nun endlich Herr über mein G1.

Das lang erwartete Firmwareupdate auf Version 1.5 (Cupcake) ist erschienen. Es wird von T-Mobile OTA (over the air) verteilt. Wer nicht darauf warten möchte, bis sein Gerät an der Reihe ist, kann sich die neueste Firmware auch direkt bei google herunterladen und manuell auf seinem Gerät installieren.
Anleitungen finden sich hierzu im Netz.
Noch eine Anmerkung:
Ich habe es zuerst mit meiner 8GB MicroSD Karte mehrmals versucht, jedoch hat es nicht geklappt. Als ich dann die original 2GB Karte verwendet habe, lief das update ohen Probleme (nur so als kleiner Hinweis)

Last night i coded again fro three hours on my new app. Not much line of code, but some interesting investigations and updates.
